Mr Chas. Mcvey was invited to become the first President
of the Club, which he duly accepted, A Proposal that
Lord Baden Powell be asked to become president was
withdrawn. Possibly on the grounds that if he was to accept he may want to hold another Jamboree, and Fifty Thousand kid's singing Ging Gang gooly on a Golf course could cause slow play. Also at this time, the following Vice Presidents where elected. Mr E. W. Tame. Mr. Colland. And Two Members of Parliament for Birkenhead Mr Graham White Esq. and Colonel J Sandeman Allen. A proposal that the Mayor of Birkenhead be invited to become a Vice President was withdrawn, and a second proposal that he be made an Honorary member was accepted A Ballot was then taken to elect a further Ten members to make up the First Committee of Arrowe Park Golf Club.
Arrowe Park Golf Course itself is a challenging 18 hole parkland course rolling through the 450 acres of Arrowe country park. Measuring a little over 6000 yards from the championship tees, the course is not overly long; however, a look at the standard scratch of 72 against a par of 71 indicates a good test awaits when you come to play! Practise facilities include a putting green, a 200 yard practise fairway and a nine hole pitch and putt course. |
